Each individual can mark their starting location. A person can "click and drag" the map, zoom in or out, switch to satellite or hybred image. It's fun and makes finding someone close to you or along your route easy! When you find someone you want to contact simply click on their bubble and a link appears that let's you compose and fire off an email.

AlterNetRides uses a "blind email" techique that protects each person's privacy. You can use our service without revealing any direct contact information until you're ready.

Our complete list of rides has all the information you need to find someone to carpool with. Plus we give you powerful tools that let you narrow or widen the list making it even easier to find others. You can mark individuals as not a match which makes those rides "disappear" plus other powerful features.

Instant Phone Notifications & Per Trip Cost

When a person sets up their ride, they are asked if they would like to receive instant phone notifications when someone sends them an email through our system. We make it very easy to connect with others.

When setting up a ride, a person can say how much they think a trip is worth. This avoids the awkwardness of having to negotiate later.

Multiple Locations

Does your organization have multiple locations? AlterNetRides makes it easy to provide our service for all of your facilities nationwide. We can set up all of your locations and you place a single link on your organization's web site. When the link is clicked, a popup list appears. My Commute Log

Our Commute Log makes it remarkably easy for a person to track their commute and see their CO2 savings when they use alternative modes of transportation.

For those that use more than one form of transportation, our Multi-Mode option lets you break down your commute to get accurate reporting.

Use Your Own Vehicle for Calculations

Using our Green Vehicle Guide module (see next slide), a person can use their own vehicle's MPG when calculating the CO2 savings.

The Green Vehicle Guide

The Green Vehicle Guide allows a person to look up any vehicle manufactured since the year 2000 and see it's EPA pollution rating. Individuals can save their vehicle to their personal account and it will then be used in calculating their CO2 savings when they use our Commute Log module.

My Vehicle Log

When a person has saved their vehicle to their account, they can then use our My Vehicle Log module to track cost of ownership. The person logs when they purchase gas, oil changes, tires, etc. and it will automatically calculate your miles-per-gallon and your cost-per-mile (My Vehicle Log is not shown).

The Carbon Footprint Club

The Carbon Footprint Club allows an organization to promote all forms of alternative transportation. Individuals sign up and, using our Commute Log module track their daily commute.

Mini-Clubs

Once a member, people can create mini-clubs: a bicycle club, walking club or perhaps clubs by department, a group of friends or clubs based on where people commute from. Within clubs people can broadcast email messages, display a map showing where people commute from and more.

Prizes & Awards

We have developed a function that lets you select random winners for prizes and awards. However, the more an individual participates by completing their Commute Log the better their odds are of winning. It really lets you encourage all forms of alternative transportation!

Reports Shows How Much of an Impact Your Organization is Having

School Pool Program

AlterNetRides has developed a special feature specifically for "School Pool" programs. Elementary, middle and high schools can be set up with a feature that blocks anyone from viewing rides until they've been approved by the school. The approval process is quick, simple and automatically sends an email to the waiting parent letting them know they can return and start looking for others wanting to form carpools to help get the kids to school.
